FACE project Beirut Fieldtrip

Pace, M. (Organizer), Bent S. E. Hansen (Organizer)

Activity: Organisation and participation in conference

This fieldtrip brings together a group of around 40 social workers, psychologists, case workers and pedagogues who work with young refugees in Lebanon and Denmark. Our partners in Lebanon include DPNA (Development for People and Nature Association in Saidon), Himaya (an NGO dedicated to making child protection a right across Lebanon), the Lebanese American University, Amel (a
service-based NGO with a Youth Empowerment program, as well as health- care programs), Hareit Hreik, Basmeh and Zeitouneh (Relief and Development) and the Danish Red Cross in Lebanon. Our participants from Denmark come from five Danish municipalities including Roskilde, Hedensted, Aalborg, Gentofte, Frederiksberg as well as the Red Cross. The programme for this fieldtrip gave participants nuanced insights into good practices that can be learned from and shared in the context of working with young refugees.
Special attention was given to three core themes: a) youth culture / abuse issues, b) mental health issues and c) the deconstructed family structure.
