Description

Investigation of the learning culture of a specially designed training programme at technical colleges to examine how the didactically organised learning culture of the programme contributes to preventing students from dropping out. The Vocational Education Reform from 2000 is problematised as a framework for establishing learning cultures that may be barriers to groups of students. The compensatory tool-oriented approch to solving the problem of students dropping out is problematised, and instead is is recommended to develop learning cultures which give students a possibility of developing their personal and vocational competences based on their experiences.
