Description
Interest in Living Labs has been growing in recent years. Living Labs are defined as open innovation platforms in which diverse stakeholders—including citizens, businesses, public administrations, and researchers—collaborate to co-create and test ideas within real-life environments and local communities. Despite this growing attention, many individuals and organizations who wish to drive innovation in their regions, who are interested in citizen‑participatory initiatives, or who are considering launching a Living Lab still perceive significant barriers to getting started. This talk will provide a clear and accessible explanation of the fundamental concepts behind Living Labs, practical approaches to establishing them, illustrative cases from Japan and abroad, and key considerations for their effective operation. Building on previous research, the session will also include a dialogue aimed at practitioners engaged in Living Lab activities.
