CHATting about multi-professional collaboration supporting individuals and communities

Activity: Talk or presentationLecture and oral contribution

Description

Dialogue between different traditions in cultural-historical research is not simple. There are controversies in e.g., interpretations of concepts originating from Marx’s and Vygotsky’s writings. How should we understand ”primary contradiction” in empirical research? How to talk about perezhivanie? Are there still dualisms to overcome in activity theory?
Research group MIC: Multi-professional collaboration supporting individuals and communities has conducted research drawing from both subject-scientific psychology (Holzkamp et al.) and developmental work research (Engeström et al.). We have engaged with cultural psychological theories of development (e.g. Valsiner et al.) and approaches to relational expertise (e.g., Edwards et al.). In this symposium, we describe empirical research conducted in MIC, articulating our current understandings of the central concepts and methodological principles.
The aim of the symposium is to initiate a conversation about the pitfalls and possibilities of the dialogues in our research group and in wider CHAT-communities.
