Abstrakt

This project investigates the limits for freedom of speech within the work life of pedagogs in Roskilde. The central focus is how the union representatives are able to enhance develop their opportunities by better articulate their professionalism. The project’s aim is to improve these opportunities through a workshop within the framework of critical utopian action research. The theme for the workshop: ‘Freedom of speech in working life’ has its background in more resent the-oretical developments within Critical Theory. Theories of social acceleration by Hartmut Rosa and Rasmus Willig´s theories of the U-turn of criticism. The theories analyze new totalitarian conditions in the late modern, flexible working life. The project analyze how these developments can be unhealthy for working environment. The empirical foundation is notes from the workshop, an interview with a union secretary from BUPL (the Pedagogs union) and slides from a presentation given by the HR consultant from Roskilde Municipality. The project concludes that, through the pedagogs everyday knowledge, the union representative might be able to strengthen their pedagogical professionalism. Through this, they might gain recognition and influence on the pedagogs work life and profession.
