In the technological world of 2012, the social media Facebook has become a big part of most people’s lives in the Western society. This project seeks to investigate how individuals create a profile on Facebook and how they might customize their personality on the screen. This project works with the sociologists Erving Goffman and Sherry Turkle, whose theories have been, applied in this case study. Moreover the theory autoethnography have been used to analyse each of the group members profile pictures and profile information on Facebook. The results from the investigation were used to confirm the projects hypothesis and problem statement. It is concluded that Facebook users have a Facebook identity and that Facebook can be used to explore different identities.
