Abstrakt
The current cultivation methods in Denmark require a sustainable conversion of Danish agriculture, if known environmental issues regarding pesticide and fertilizer use have to be alleviated. This paper examines the potential of hydroponic vertical farming in Copenhagen. This examination is based on selected environmental sustainability principles, and whether the technology's fulfillment of these principles play a role in the consumers acceptance of the technology. The consumers acceptance of the technology is negative despite the fulfillment of most of the selected sustainability principles. Therefore, vertical farmings potential in Copenhagen is found to be predominantly negative, with regards to the current level of consumer acceptance and high energy consumption.
