This master thesis will explore the status quo in the Danish water distribution practice. This is done through an examination of the hydrological cycle and the theoretical framework for sustainable development: Circular Economy. The rapport finds 2 major impacts from which society effects grund water regeneration; groundwater abstraction and surface water runoff actions. The thesis then further examines the regulatory and legislative reason for the current political focus on efficiency in environmental planning. And lastly explores possible solutions for a reduced surface water runoff with the goal of establishing af greater groundwater regeneration whereby this thesis assess that a more sustainable water management can be achieved.
