Vaccination, mor og barn: En en undersøgelse af mødres tanker og bekymringer i forbindelse med børnevaccinationsprogrammet samt fremstilling af et dialogisk kommunikationsprodukt

Abstrakt

This empirical project examines which social practices and discourses are present when Danish first-time mothers decides whether they should vaccinate their children or whether they should not. The project investigates furthermore how this specific knowledge could contribute to the development of a dialogical communication product. The project is divided in two parts: a so-called feasibility study and the communication product. In order to look at the issues from a social constructive perspective quali-tative methods were used. Two focus groups were conducted involving 7 Danish mothers from two geographical areas in Zealand: Slagelse and Copenhagen. Secondly an interview with a Danish health visitor from Amager was conducted as part of the development of the communication product. The feasibility study is theoretical based on practice theory and discursive psychology and the communica-tion product is developed on theory regarding dialogical communication and the 4D-model. Among other things the analysis reveals that the mothers use 5 different practises: a mum-practice, a search-practice, a health-practice, a family-practice and a vaccination-practice. The analysis also shows the existence of two orders of discourse: a mum-order and a pro-vaccination-order. The underlying dis-courses in the mum-order of discourse indicates for instance that a good mum is a mum that do all the right things and this creates a social pressure. Among other things the discussion points out that the interaction between the social practices and the discourses has an effect on the mothers’ optional sub-ject for vaccination. This is for an example a pressure that the mothers imposed on themselves which is always to appear as a good mum that do the right things. Further the discussion points out that the “mødregruppe” as a context is an important factor because this context clarifies the mothers needs which is useful regarding to our communication product. The dialogical communication product is called Bekymringskompasset and contains of 4 phases: Bekymrings-fasen, Drømme-fasen, Vi-densdelings-fasen and Opsamlingsfasen. Bekymringskompasset is a communication tool addressed to Danish health visitors. The intent is to help the health visitors when they lead a conversation with mothers that express concerns or are doubtful about the Danish Børnevaccinationsprogrammet.
