Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

The project ’Værdier og Menneskerettigheder’ (Values and Human Rights) is a philosophical project about the possible existence of universal values. The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights is used as an example. After a short definition of the term value, follows an account of Hume’s and Kant’s theory of cognition and moral philosophy, together with Rawls and Habermas’ theories about the just society and the ethics of discourse respectively. These theories are used as an argument when discussing the existence of universal values. The 2nd part of the project begins with a general introduction to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In this section we seek to answer the question, as to how far human rights can be regarded as an objective set of values or not? This seeks to be answered through other ways of approaching the problem, and the project ends with a conclusion where answers, or lack of answers, to the above questions appear.
