Abstract This project aims at investigating to how wide an extend female sexuality in Denmark is constituted as a consequence of maskulin sexuality. The project takes it’s point of departure in a presentation of an existential theoretical view on gender, as an alternative to classical feminisist and gender theory. In continuation of this, the project takes up the task of understanding masculine sexuality, as it appeared in 2007, when Sarah Højgaard Cawood wrote her ph. D thesis about how young people in elementary school positions themselves in a sexualized environment, as a consequence of the character of popular culture. An analysis of a women’s magasin is hereafter carried out in order to understand which narratives is presented in relation to men, from a female perspective. Finally it is discussed to how far an extend the tendencies Cawood mapped out in 2007, is still present in society, and whether an existential theoretical frame can serve as an alternative to the present sexual culture.
