Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This study examines the positive and negative effects of being diagnosed with ADHD. Hereby it tries to get an understanding of the influence the diagnosis has on young peoples’ opportunities in late modern society. This has been investigated through interviews with two young people who are both diagnosed with ADHD. The interviews have been analyzed on the basis of three theorists: Giddens, Ziehe, and Goffman while using Brinkmann to comment upon these. These theorists have been used to show different aspects of both the general individual and the diagnosed one. The interviews have been used to get an insight of the two individuals’ experiences of their opportunities and if/how these have been restricted or changed as a result of their diagnoses. It shows that an ADHD-diagnose affects the young person negatively by stigmatizing them and limiting their options when it comes to education and social career.
