The purpose of this paper is to clarify whether the youth in Denmark have the opportunity for individual living. To uncover and understand this issue, we have collected different empirical evidence such as memoirs, articles, reports and historical literature as our historical evidence. By using a comparative method in this paper, we have chosen two historical periods of time; the early 20th century and the 21st century. To support our analysis based on the results of the review, we have chosen theorist Pierre Bourdieu, Thomas Højrup and several others referred to as Illeris et al. who specializes in sociological theory each with a different a specialisation. To examine the problem of paper, the analysis is based on different social conditions that are included to clarify the papers statement. These conditions are education, work, social culture, relocation and economics. We have chosen to clarify these relevant perspectives in relation to the purpose of this paper. Finally, we have chosen to discuss three different aspects of our paper, namely a critical survey of our theory and their interactions, whether or not we can confirmation our hypothesis and if the concept of youth existed in the early 20th century. The results implicate that the youth in the two respective periods of time both have the opportunity to create an individual living, however this is only possible if it is done within the preconditions of society.
