This research paper aims to examine whether international institutions, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund - together with the Structural Adjustment Programmes - contribute to the underdevelopment of the education and healthcare system in Niger. The problem formulation of this research highlights the paradox that the government of Niger is receiving borrowed money from the mentioned institutions which would be spent for development but however, the country suffers from poor circumstances and does not seem to develop. In order to get an understanding of the mentioned paradox, the chosen method of this paper is document analysis. The analysis chapter of the research analyse the followings: structural problems in the Bretton Woods Institutions faced by the Niger state, the education system and the healthcare system in Niger. In addition, this project includes a short discussion chapter where the analysed document are connected to the theories of this paper, which are realism and world system theory. And lastly, this paper aims to answer whether international institutions contribute to underdevelopment of the education and healthcare system in Niger.
