Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

The project focuses on the public school system in the Danish society. The project will investigate why there are such differences between the grades in the final tests. To investigate these differences the project will analyse how the teachers design their lessons, how pupil’s social background can influence their learning and if free choice of school influences at all. The teaching design is studied by analysing the quality reports from the Blågårds school and the Heiberg school with the theory by the German educational scientist Hilbert Meyer. We have analysed their social background in the light of Pierre Bourdieu and Anthony Giddens' theories. From our studies we conclude that the primary reason for the large differences in grades is the residential segregation since and the majority of children go to their affiliated school.
