Abstrakt

Papirøen (the Paper Island) is one of the most exclusive sites in the Port of Copenhagen and it is yet to be decided what will be build there. At the moment three warehouse buildings remains as leftovers from the island’s history, and so it will stay - at least until 2017. Our thesis statement is: What does the citizens of Christianshavn and Indre By wish will be placed on Papirøen and what are the potentials of a debate waggon work as a medium for public participation? The objective of our work was to investigate what the citizens of Christianshavn and Indre By would like to have built on the island when it becomes available in 2017. To do so we established collaborations with the Local Councils of Christianshavn and Indre By. We created a platform to enable the citizens to meet us and discuss their ideas about what to plan. The process of gathering this information is a vital part of this study. The citizens want facilities that can improve the livelihood in their area. The debate waggon can potentially improve how citizens can engage in planning processes. This Study contains a theoretical framework consisting of David Harvey’s Theory of the Entrepreneurialistic Growth Paradigm, John Friedman’s ideas of Social Mobilisation and John Andersen’s take on Empowerment.
