Uddannelse i en konkurrencestat: Education in a competitive state

The purpose of this project is to investigate whether there has been a change in the form of state in the Danish society, and whether this change may have consequences for the educational system and its students. In this project there is an investigation of the fact that there may be a new form of state or if it is just a development in the society? The project concerns Ove Kaj Pedersens perspective of the development in the Danish society within the last 20-30 years. We will analyse this development in the use of the study progress reform, because of the fact that this reform is a way of advancing the Danish competition by creating progress in the higher education. We will be using Knud Illeris’ theory about Transformative learning and identity to look at the possible consequences the development could have on the students’ ability and way of learning and the development of their identity. The conclusion is that the transformative learning lessens in the competitive state due to the fact that the politicians and the study progress reform makes it difficult to produce transformations and thereby development of the identity. This because the study progress reform disturbs or rush on the students’ phases in the development of the identity.
