The purpose of this study was to examining the Danish Broadcast (DR) news show, TV Avisen, in its primary air time – 21:30 – in the pursuit of a better knowledge of how the program has evolved from 2003 to 2014. We set out during an extensive debate in the media whether or not to keep airing this particular show was going on, the focus being that DR is a public serviceorganization meant to service everyone who owns a device with internet access. The main complication was to examine how competition from commercial news channels and the imposing of the internet was affecting the once sole broadcaster of Danish and international news, DR’s TV Avisen. To do this we devoted our attention to the changes in TV Avisens composition and content – with an emphasis on how multiple platforms allows access to TV Avisen. We found that major changes has occurred from 2003 to 2014, especially in the way the news anchors present the news. The recitation of news has become more mundane with attention to the individual viewer. The use of correspondents has grown to extensively with every correspondent having their own field of expertise, which often substitutes both sources of experience and expertise alignment altogether. These are mere some of the differences we found in our investigation. The outcome of our preliminary examination has been analysed and discussed in our further work towards understanding where TV Avisen sets it stance in this day and age.
