Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

The main purpose of this project is to examine adult education mainly in course related learning situations. Initially we found an interest in the field when we came across research by Bjarne Wahlgren, which indicated that up to 80% of what was taught in adult education got lost in the transfer process. With that in mind, the aim of the project is to examine what might cause this extensive loss of literacy in educational transfer processes. The project uses transformative learning theories with the intention of studying how to improve educational situations - using a student learning centered view. In addition, the analyzing part of the project is based on a case study we did on two interviewees who had been participating in a course built on transformative learning theories. In addition to the already presented theories the project uses theories on the teacher’s role in adult learning situations, narrative theories, motivation and theories on how the brain works in situations when the individual feels challenged and exposed. Overall, the project aims to study adult education situations and the complexity of human being in relation to learn and emerge through learning situations.
