This project has analysed what effect regulations had on the US investment banks - JPMorgan Chase, Barclays and Goldman Sachs. Different scholars and interviewees from banks have brought in different perspectives to discuss and analyse the influence of regulations on these banks in the years 2006 and 2017. In order to conduct the analysis the method of content analysis was utilised in combination with the theories of Hayek and Stigler. These theorists were also used in the secondary analysis which made the discussion for the project. The project concludes that the banks did not share the same perspective on regulations. Some were rather pro regulation leaning while others were in favour of deregulation. However, all banks and interviewees agreed that regulation had various negative consequences for the banks and their liberty. Whereas some scholars and the media had different opinions.
