Anders Hein Jessen, Andreas Barfod Suhr, Patrick Schack & Thomas Pultz

Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This project tries to answer if the economic recession has had an impact on the higher education of Denmark, and especially the people who have applied in the past few years, since the socio-economic situation began to deteriorate. The project focuses on key numbers from both the universities themselves and through first hand data from the people that are currently enrolled at a higher educational facility. These numbers and the rhetorics from both the media and the politicians regarding the educational system are analysed through concepts by french sociologist Pierre Bourdieu which tries to explain the reasons behind the actions and reactions from both sides of the issue. The project is built up through a hypothesis that the recession has caused more students to focus on business related studies, and concludes with a discussion on whether this hypothesis can be validated or not.
