Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This paper is a study of the representation of the witch through literature and select popular culture. The representation of the witch has undergone a transformation overtime, from the fear-inducing old hag, through to the naive young witch and onto a relatable and inspiring character. To understand this transformation, we are using Robert Graves’ book The White Goddess and his theory of the Triple Goddess as the frame for which we understand the representation of the witch. We will study her transformation as a reflection of humankind’s fears and desires.
