Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This work shall deal with historical, political, cultural, social and ethic-philosophical aspects of an important subject in Austrian history. There shall be shown the relation of the growing antisemitism and the development of an Austrian national identity. It would be interesting to think about the roots of antisemitism in Austria’s politics and culture in the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. Central dealing with the intellectual guiding force of antisemitism in the end of the 19th century and in which ways this has influenced the history is important. With help of the end of 19th century it should be shown how identity developed in Austria after 1945. If parts of the identity concept were replaced by modern ones or if the old concepts based on anti-Semitism and racsim just were continued. Because of Austria’s dealing with history and the political development in the second half of the 20th century it is fascinating to investigate the new national identity also concerning the victim thesis.
