This project explores the proposition of a Basic Income. Furthermore, this proposition is investigated on different levels. At first, we give insight in the historical origins and the practical application of this construct. Additionally, it will unravel the importance of a welfare system in the Scandinavian model of welfare state. In using social justice as our theory, this paper focuses on the aspects of inequality and poverty. This project, through content analysis, is presenting different perspectives from the authors Guy Standing, Milton Friedman, Negri & Hardt and Robert Reich on these issues. Their different ideas about the establishment of alternative welfare- or economic-system, which addresses poverty and inequality, are introduced. By engaging in a discussion about differences and similarities of the particular points of view of the authors, this project provides the basis for a future debate, of a possible implementation.
