The matter behind this project, lies in the fact, that a resolution was quite quickly agreed upon, regarding the conflict in Libya, but that the international society have not yet intervened in Syria. This project examines the decisive reasons. These reasons are studied through a number of work thesis. Through these we study the importance of international institutions, such as the UN, China and Russia’s role in the conflict, as well as the domestic affairs of Syria. The overall conclusion is that it is a very complex mixture of international and national conditions. Unity inside the UN Security Council, is a crucial matter regarding interventions. However, many states act only on behalf on their own interests. Particularly Russia and China have alliances with Bashar al-Assad, and therefore wont support an intervention.
