Subculture: Cosplay, a subcultural community Why is the late modern human looking for subcultural communities? The purpose of this problem-oriented project is to understand, what it is that makes the late modern individual seek these subcultural communities, and how does being a part of this subculture affect them as a person. These things are being looked at through theory written by Zygmunt Bauman about communities, Michael Clarke and his work about Subculture, and Gernot Böhme and his work on Atmosphere. These theories along with the empirical data, gathered by the use of participation observation, as well as interviews and memos, are then analyzed through the use of Grounded Theory in a perspective analysis, for the purpose to get a better understanding of, what exactly makes the late modern individual decide to seek these subcultural communities. This is a project based upon Sociology and Planning, Space and Resources.
