Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

Apple is perhaps today one of the most successful technological brands on the market. This company has introduced various products to the consumers, which in a relatively short time has managed to establish a world wide trend based on a functional and aesthetic design. In this project, the primary interest lies in how Apple has achieved this kind of success revolved around the late founder Steve Jobs, who undoubtedly appears as one of the central figures in creating the status that Apple has today. Steve Jobs was known for having a very harsh albeit effective approach to creating products and seemed determined to achieve the best possible. It therefore seems relevant to look at the character he possessed to make the connection between his controversial figure in respect to Apple’s success. Furthermore, the project draws on philosophers such as Friedrich Nietzsche’s the Will to Power, Anthony Rudd’s Self, Value and Narrative and Peter Goldie’s Empathy, in order to gain a more profound perception of Steve Jobs – not just as a successful entrepreneur but equally, and perhaps even more importantly, how he as an individual experienced and influenced the world he lived in. In short, there seems to be an interesting link between a unique character such as Steve Jobs and the major popularity that Apple possesses today. Based on the different components mentioned above, this project seeks to gain a thoroughly and multifaceted understanding of the man behind Apple.
