In this paper we examine the strategies and positions used by teachers in two danish language centers for foreigners. Other than that we look into the way in which these teachers speak about Denmark and what it means to be danish. We conclude that the teachers have very different perceptions of their academic purpose and the methods which are most useful in order to teach foreigners danish. Furthermore we have detected a use of stereotypes especially in one of the teachers way of describing Denmark which can prove to be problematic for the students perception of what is danish and what is not
