Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

Abstrakt

This project is a comparative analysis of two political events in the Danish Parliament. One is the former press conference (Tirsdagspressemøde) between the Danish prime minister, Helle Thorning Schmidt, and political journalists, while the other is the now functioning event, which is a Q/A (Spørgetime) between the leaders of the opposing parties and the Danish prime minister. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods, we assume three different analytical approaches that focus on the types of questions asked, the discourses articulated and the media’s projection of the political topics articulated. The study finds clear differences in the ways journalists and politicians form the political debate, both in terms of questions asked and the proportion of political substance. We also find that both events have had and have significant influence on which political topics that becomes subject for news media mentioning and coverage.
