The purpose of the thesis is to empirically study what a knowledge organization can gain by applying social media solutions as part of their internal communication and what conditions should be obtained in order for them to succeed. This is examined by investigating to what extent social media solutions support dialogic communication, by analyzing whether social media can increase knowledge workers’ motivation and finally by focusing on what impact social media tools have on companies’ structure, culture and the level of trust between management and knowledge workers and vice versa.
