Linnea Engel Birch Kadziola, Kasper Kähler Andersen & Peter Bruun Nielsen

Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

Abstract: This project examines the surveillance policies of the USA and how they legitimize them. The American model of government will be defined and analyzed with the help of democracy theories, so it will be easier to enlighten the juridical processes and changes in the law. The purpose of the project is to conclude these changes and to look at which influence they have made on the American government, in relations to restrictions, new possibilities and alike. With the help of a comparative analysis, two different kinds of perspectives on surveillance will be examined along with how the USA legitimizes their actions. The changes from the Patriot Act to the Freedom Act will be analyzed and finally, there will be a discussion concerning whether Edward Snowden is a traitor or a national hero based on the arguments for and against him.
