This study consists of three parts, which combined will lead to the report’s final conclusion. Firstly, it examines how Leatherface, the villain of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), and Michael Myers, the villain of Halloween (1978), are being portrayed, and secondly how their characters have developed in the remakes of the movies from respectively 2003 and 2007. Finally, the study investigates where this development could have originated from. In the end, it is concluded that it might be a result of the terrorist attack on 9/11, the remaking as a process, the differences in budget between the originals and the remakes, as well as the technological advancement that has occurred in the time between productions.
