Sekularisme og religion - venner eller fjender?

Romaric Gé & Simon Gessø Hansen

Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This project examines the relationship between civil sociey, the state and religion in Turkey. We wanted to research the relationship between the civil society and the state’s democratic processes. Our problemformulation was: What influence does the muslim civil society, hereunder social movements, have on the Turkish democracy. We’ve used theory regarding civil society and social movements, compared with empirical data from the research on Turkish vernacular politics and Islamic activism, in our answering of the problemformulation. Our findings show both signs of positive and negative effects on the Turkish democracy caused by the civil society and social movements. The polarization between islamists an kemalists in the civil society, causes plural obstacles for the democratic processes.
