Olivia Emma Mielche, Oscar Haugaard & Oliver Vorawit Bagersted

Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

The purpose of this assignment is to account for Jean-Paul Sartre’s critique of Sigmund Freud’s psychology. In order for us to understand the critique, a development of a both philosophical and psychological analysis of Sartre’s first work The Transcendens of the Ego has been needed. The focus in the assignment is Sartre’s studies and how it develops into an existential psychology. We have also read about earlier existential philosophers Søren Kierkegaard’s and Martin Heidegger’s studies to see how they have influenced Sartre. Furthermore Freud’s structural model of the psyche will be drawn into perspective as well as his psychosexual development. The studies in this assignment has lead to the conclusion that Sartre is somewhat inspired by Kierkegaard and Heidegger. Despite his critique of the determinism in Freud’s structural model of the psyche and the psychosexual development Sartre found some inspiration in Freud’s psychology.
