Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

Our problem formulation is: What positive contributions does UNG2400 contribute with from a appreciative integration perspective? Appreciative integration perspective must be understood in the extension of Axel Honneth's view of the good life. He deals with 3 different types of recognition, within 3 sphere. Once you have experienced all three forms of recognition the subject will be entirely individual, which is equated with being integrated. With his understanding of integration, there will be taken departure in a specific project which goes under the name UNG2400. It is a role model project which is characterized as being socially and integrative, and partially funded by the municipality of Copenhagen. The project's goal is to create a youth to youth contacts, to inspire young people to choose and participate in the education system, and open discussions among young people about loneliness, discrimination, religion, divisive, bullying and multiculturalism. To answer our research question, we will examine what discussion forums as the above mentioned can contribute in relation to integration. We examine both the role models and recipients. Why we will be addressing the motivation of the role models, their experience of being a part of the project, and finally we will be addressing the recipients experience of role models and their presentations. Furthermore, we will be applying Jan Tønnesvang`s conceptual apparatus, which constitutes four pursuits, such as empathic mirroring, ideals, social interaction with individuals who are similarly disposed and finally developing skills and abilities. With Tønnesvangs conceptual apparatus we will examine the relationships and processes between role models and recipients. In carrying out the survey we conducted individual interviews with role models and focus groups with the recipients. Through the study we have deduced 2 hypotheses which constitutes our conclusion: 1. Role models have a unique opportunity to inspire the recipients to develop goals and dreams and how they can become part of the appreciative community. 2. Role models is, by virtue of that they are recognized both in surrogate communities and of society, a binding link between surrogate communities and society.
