Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

Everyday a lot of refugees flees from war and destruction, and part of the refugees are coming to Denmark. Cultural differences and challenges can be difficult to adopt. The focus in this study is to examine how refugees are integrated most successful in Danish society, further-more, their possibility to participate in the labour market through the construction of the three-year introduction program. This study only examines the municipality Ringkøbing-Skjern Kommune. Through interviews with two municipalities workers, two refugees from Ringkøbing-Skjern Kommune and two scientists, we seek to uncover some obstacles and pos-sibilities the municipality contains when it comes to giving refugees the best possible condi-tions to facilitate their integration. It is in our interest to discover which social factors contribute to a successful integration. By the use of Network Theory we add clarity to the importance of different kinds of network, including strong - and weak networking, as well as bridging and delimited social capital. In addition to Network Theory, it is discussed how relations are relevant towards integration. This study examines the impact of recognition of the individual and it’s possibility to be a part of the society and it’s community. The project aims to combine these theories with the munic-ipalities workers statements regarding their understanding of its efforts towards integration. Such reasoning is done to search for a possible divergence of interest towards refugees needs in integration. For the analysis of the municipality’s options, we use Institutional Theory. We wish to exam-ine the government’s laws for integration and how these affect the municipality. Based on our empiricism we wish to determine which paradoxes exist in integration. The project concludes that network in - and outside work have influence on a successful inte-gration. The refugees need solidary recognition, which they can achieve through weak – and strong network. In context to network, refugees develop skills, which is important to make them attractive by the labour market. It is also essential to acknowledge, that integration is different depended on perspective, which influence the different needs of refugees to make a successful integration. Furthermore, the report illuminates a number of paradoxes construct-ed in the systems structure compared to the needs of refugees.
