This task aims to examine the relevant issues concerning the complex between punishment and resocialization in the Danish Prison Service handled by Kriminalforsorgen. These particular values are assigned in a principle program that the Prison Service and the individual prisons are bound to follow. These principles are made in the interest of a successful achievement in a social rehabilitation of the inmates, which successfully will result in a life without crime. Furthermore the task examine how the two values are inseparable and what risks there are for them to inhibit and limit each other in achieving the full benefits of resocialization. Based on these issues the investigational method has been to analyze the Danish prison as an organizational institution in the Danish society. Throughout this, the various issues are clarified.
