In this project we examine the problems of the method of reflective equilibrium, as a way of justifying moral beliefs, in light of two recent objections to the method. We outline the theory of reflective equilibrium and some general points about justification, and then proceed to discuss whether the method of reflective equilibrium is truth-conducive, and also whether recent empirical research on our moral intuitions can be said to undermine the method. We conclude that the objections do not pose a threat to the method of reflective equilibrium as such, but rather to moral theorising and rational justification of moral beliefs in general.
