This project originates from a request to RUC Project Bank from the independent institution HovedHuset (HH), that works with rehabilitation of people who have suffered brain damage. The assignment is to redesign the HH website in order to increase usability and support their communication to potential clients. Seeing as the website’s visitors are mainly people with disabilities, participatory design in the process of development is deemed essential. By use of think aloud tests and semi-structured interviews, a substantial amount of empirical data is gathered, which lays the foundation for the functional and structural redesign of the website. A large number of the website’s functionalities are in need of refinement in order for the institution to appeal to their specific target group. In order to illustrate the issues on the existing website, modelling of functions and structure are utilized. This serves both to further the analysis of the existing webpage but also to support the redesign. The main focus in the redesign of the HH website is on functions and structure rather than the graphic aspect, though the latter will be incorporated briefly.
