The purpose of this project is to shed light on how an unsolicited inquiry, in the shape of a video about the production school AFUK, is recieved by the intended audience. This is done through the use of interviews as qualitative method. The results have been analysed through the use of professor Kim Schrøder’s multidimensional model for reception analysis.
Our intention of using the reception analysis is to get an overview of the audiences interpretations of the videoes different components. The messsage of video, as well as the individual components are intended to break with the broad negative discourses regarding non-academic educations, and in this case, specifically production schools. The discourses seems to encourage young students to follow the academic way even though some might not have the same pre-requisites to complete an academic education. We found that the message was easily obtained by the informants of our investigation and therefore seems to be relevant to the intended audience. Besides some methodological challenges, the results from the analysis furthermore seem to indicate that the video contribute to modify the informants views of the production schools in a more positive direction.
