This review covers the literature in Global Political Economy that is applied to the concept of sustainable societal structure in light of the current, always more urgent, ecological crisis.
After examining the literature, three main traditions have emerged: Green Growth, Degrowth and the Green Left. Initially the theoretical standpoints and main concepts used from the traditions have been examined and contrasted towards each other. Secondly, the ways the three rationalities build their discourses to make a compelling argument have been investigated. Lastly, the gaps that emerged during the review have been covered.
