The purpose of this project is to investigate, how to decrease the amount women ending up in prostitution due to human trafficking in Denmark by focusing on the customers buying sex. To examine this area we conducted qualitative interviews with one customer and four experts on the field based on Steinar Kvale’s method. Our analysis is based on Faircloughs critical discourse analysis in order to compare the various discourses presented by our informants with the Danish Government’s plan of action to combat human trafficking. We will furthermore analyze the customers discourse concerning his position in the human trafficking industry. Throughout the discussion we included Sartre’s atheistic existentialistic philosophy, for the purpose of discussing the customer's choice of buying sex from prostitutes that might have been trafficked. We will also include some of the cultural factors that might play a certain role to, why the customer legitimizes his actions. We have reached to the conclusion that the action plan is being met by the organizations fighting to decrease trafficking of women, which our four experts each represent. We additionally conclude that the customer is playing a crucial role in the industry. It is therefore essential to approach the customer in the solution of decreasing the amount of women being trafficked to prostitution in Denmark.
