Abstrakt

Dansk I nærværende projekt er det blevet søgt at belyse de biologiske mekanismer, der ligger bag pattedyrs helingsproces, for at sammenligne disse med den ældre restaureringssproces, der kendes som regeneration. Formålet har været at finde og påpege lighederne og forskellene mellem de to processer. Det konkluderes, at den forholdsvis beskedne evne til at lukke og forsegle skader, som bl.a. Homo sapiens sapiens besidder, er en stærkt reduceret udgave af regeneration, opstået gennem evolutionen, hvor immunforsvarets stigende kompleksitet sandsynligvis betød, at denne efterhånden antog de omnipotente celler, som regeneration benytter sig af, for at være cancerceller. Dette har medført, at evnen efterhånden er blevet inaktiveret. Forsøg hvor immunforsvaret blev svækket viste, at forsøgsdyrene opnåede betydelige regenerative evner, hidtil usete hos pattedyr. Lignende forsøg har endvidere afsløret, at ardannelsesprocessen muligvis er blevet til en overreaktion, idet begrænning af denne ligeledes medførte forøgede regenerative evner. Så pattedyr besidder måske disse egenskaber latent. I hvor stor udstrækning de findes, og hvorledes den bioteknologiske videnskab kan bibringe menneskeheden disse egenskaber, er vanskeligt på nuværende tidspunkt at udtale sig om. English In the present work the biological mechanism, behind the healing process in mammals has been studied closely, in order to compare it to the older process of restoration known as regeneration. The purpose was to find and mark the similarities and differences between them. The conclusion is that the more humble ability to seal and repair wounds, that among others, Homo sapiens sapiens possess, is a very reduced version of regeneration, emergent through the evolution, where the increasing complexity in the immune system properly resulted in, that the immune system through time would assume that the omnipotent cells, that regeneration use, where cancer cells. So these abilities has been shot down. Experiments, where the immune system has been weakened has demonstrated that the research animals achieved substantial regenerative abilities, up to that time unseen in mammals. Similar experiments have further revealed that the process of scaring could have evolved to an over response, since limiting this also led to greater regenerative abilities. So, mammals do perhaps possess these abilities latent, but in how large a scale they exist, and how the science of biotechnology can transfer these abilities to the human race, is at the present time more difficult to say.
