This paper is based on our opinion towards the lacking knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulation and which challenges Privacy face, as well as how Privacy can be protected. We will consider both the Government and the private citizen’s perspective. The paper will take its impetus in the view of Public Policy methods, to look at how Governments regulate strategies. Furthermore, the concept of Privacy will be looked at as how it has changed over time and how it is articulated today. In the paper, an analysis of Public Policy will be represented as well as an analysis of a data analytical technology . Examples of Privacy enhancing technologies will be analysed to what effect it may have for organisations, and additionally how it works as a supplement as a Policy approach. We will represent a real life-case, which is known as the biggest media scandal in Denmark. The case is an example of how private data, can be abused and violated. It is also a great example of how much it can damage a company’s reputation and reliability. We will discuss how the media scandal, could have been prevented in such an extent with the new General Data Protection Regulation, and how selfregulation could have been implemented, as well as helped the involved parts.
