This paper is investigating the connection between surrealism and spirituality. Starting with the concept of art and its linguistic perspective, within the paper there will be an attempt to analyse what lies in the background of surrealistic works and the methods used in their creation. The processes used in the act of creation relates to the theory of presence developed by Camelia Elias (2011), which is in strict connection with the Buddhist concept of meditative state. Gellu Naum’s understanding of writing and Victor Brauner’s life experience are two points which will be analysed in order to discover the connection between their works and spirituality. Although the connection is not visible at the first glance, during the process of analyses everything takes shape and starts to be connected. The paper can be seen as a voyage in the hidden aspects of the act of creation and the relation to the human reality. !
