In this master thesis we investigate how podcast became popular among the Danish newspapers.To begin with we had an assumption that the popularity is caused by Americanisation of the Danish press which leads to an increased commercialization and therefore an increased need for the newspapers to brand themselves as someone who follows the newest media trends – in this case podcast. With this in mind, we wanted to examine how podcast made it’s way into the Danish media and more specific why the newspapers Politiken and Information started their podcasts. To be able to analyze the reasons behind the use of podcast in Denmark we use theory about media systems by Daniel C. Hallin and Paolo Mancini, theory about Americanization by Mel Van Elteren and theory about branding by Heidi Hansen
