The aim of this project is to examine how podcast can be used as internal business communication. Through an examination of The National Museum of Denmark and their use of podcast (NATradio) as a part of their internal communication, this project seeks to investigate the potential of podcast as an internal media strategy.
Based on communication theory, we constructed a questionnaire in order to analyse how the employees use NATradio. Furthermore, we performed a focus group interview, which elaborated the results of the survey. The majority of our empiricism are thus gathered through interviews with employees at The National Museum of Denmark and experts in the field of podcast media. Through the assignment’s theoretical basis and empirical results, we were able to look at their opinions about the podcast.
It is well known that internal communication is significant in order to decrease the distance between employees and the management. In that sense, our data showed that podcast has the potential to pass on internal and relevant content through auditory communication and thereby contribute to successful internal communication. It is however essential that the organisation has made well thought considerations about its target group and the arrangement of the podcast in the way of content and structure.
