Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

The following project examines how psychometric tests in connection with recruitment influences the candidates’ self-understanding. With critical psychology as our realm of understanding we use the science of the standpoint of the subject to examine how the candidates experiences the test situation from a first person’s perspective. On the basis of critical psychology we regard psychometric tests as an objective conditions, which provide the subject with a range of possibilities of actions. The analysis is furthermore based on the theory’s key terms such as self-understanding, dialectic-materialism and inter-subjectivity. Through the conduct of qualitative interviews we conclude that the tests help the candidates reflect on and articulate their personality and therefore influences their self-understanding and this new kind of subjectivity consequently has an impact on their way of life. The test can however objectify the candidates if the recruitment agency does allow a dialogue.
