Studenteropgave: Basisprojekt

Abstrakt

Our project aims to answer the question: "How can you build a technical design which secures the understanding of the processing regarding personal data to the average citizen as well securing a better understanding of the consequences by sharing personal data”

By utilizing surveys and collecting empirical data this study has found a need to increase the awareness of the average citizen regarding personal data being shared throughout the Internet.

From the analysis of the empirical data it’s clear that a large portion of the participants in the surveys has a little to no knowledge about how their personal information is treated online.

While this study tries to increase awareness for the average citizen, the study must understand the current laws and politics that deals with this subject and make sure the average citizen understands the consequences before accepting terms of agreement.

Additionally, the study has produced a prototype. A prototype that attempts to answer the given question introduced in the very beginning. This prototype is a result of iterative methods, FEDS evaluations and test with real-users.

Finally, the studies illustrate how complicated it really can be to understand what the average citizen is accepting while roaming around the Internet.
