#Summary This paper, which is the final part of my Danish language and literature studies and History studies, through which I attain Master degree, integrates the subjects Danish and History. Its starting point Is the debate, which took place in Denmark in the 1990’s, that made a distinction between traditional political biographies and socio-cultural biographies. Two political and two socio-cultural from the 1990’s are analysed applying literary analysis theory with the aim to investigate what in fact defined the relationship between the objects of the biographies and their time. Furthermore, the view on history of the four authors are taken into account. Similarities between the two types of biographies are discussed in relation to the constraints of the biography genre and the realistic novel genre while their differences are discussed in relation to the character of the depicted persons lifework. The paper concludes, that in practise the difference is not as large as the debate would have us believe.
